Anthropology (Sci-fi, horror?) Dear Mr. Sharp: Thank you for your letter expressing an interest in our work and in offering us the possibility of securing funding from your foundation. As I mentioned to you briefly in my last letter, we are working in the field of anthropology, with particular emphasis on the antecedents in the human development cycle. As you know, we are one of only three international research institutions who have been given unlimited access to the Candiga tribe discovered early last year in a remote area of the Amazonian jungle. This remarkable tribe was discovered by a logging company, and was virtually on the edge of extinction. In fact the last of the females had recently died and there was only a cluster of 16 males left. As a humanitarian you will no doubt be relieved to hear that, as a precautionary measure, we have taken DNA samples from them and could recreate them if, by some mischance, they were to all die out before the experiment has been concluded. The tribesmen bear some resemblance to present-day humans, enough indeed to suppose that they are probably what our distant ancestors would look like. They do walk upright, but with a marked stoop and their knuckles tend to drag along the ground. They have a high, sloping forehead, deep set eyes and a pronounced mouth. Their bodies are very hairy, closer to an ape than a present day human and, although they can communicate, their vocabulary tends to be very limited but is obviously adequate to their needs. We have already concluded a range of experiments with regard to manual dexterity, hand to eye co-ordination and intelligence. They have good manual skills but their IQ can be measured at below sub-normal compared to the range of human capabilities. Therefore we can conclude that they have by no means reached the stage of developmental progress that the rest of the human race has achieved. This has, for obvious reasons, made the scientific community very excited. In fact you may have already seen the rather sensationalist newspaper reports that we have discovered the 'missing link'. On a scientific level we naturally demurred, but on a personal level I think that this may be very close to the truth. I did promise, in my last letter, that I would send more details on the rather more in-depth study we have been undertaking. This research, as you recall, pays particular regard to the possibility of breeding the subjects. I am happy to confirm to you that our research is going extremely well and I can now describe the program in more detail. We have five subjects in total. These range from older specimens, which we estimate would be around the 30 years of age mark, down to a 15 year-old. In order to keep them away from diseases that we have a natural immunity to, but to which they may not, such as the common cold and smallpox, we have constructed a series of isolation chambers. These chambers are glass throughout and resemble large, glass cuboids. Inside we have equipped the chambers with a reasonable facsimile of their natural environment, except that we have limited the amount of vegetation so as to make continual observation possible. The air is filtered and the chambers can only be entered via an air lock. Naturally they are very secure as we wouldn't want the possibility of these creatures escaping. In this way we have been able to observe and study their, what you would call, lifestyle habits. This has yielded a fascinating amount of data with regard to diet, health, exercise and social interaction. Once we had carried out this observation for a number of months we decided to introduce a new element. This new element came about from our desire to determine both their breeding habits and their interaction with females. As all their females had died we had to accept that we could only offer them a woman, as being the closest to their species. The female members of our research team were judged as being too valuable to our program to allow them to become part of the experiment so we obtained a young female from our present benefactor. She is his sixteen year-old step-daughter who was taking no interest in her studies, but seemed to have more than a passing interest in the opposite sex. Moreover she seemed shiftless and without a purpose or direction to her life. So he naturally assumed that she would be perfect for our purposes. Contrary to his beliefs she was, in fact, in a virginal state and so we were very excited at the prospect of introducing her to our control group of three males. I have included a video tape of the initial introduction which you can review at your leisure, but in the meantime I will describe what took place. In keeping with their unclothed state we took away her clothing. Thus, naked, she was introduced to their enclosure. After a period, during which she banged on the door and screamed, the subjects became aware of her presence. Now I must add at this point that we didn't want to give the female any preconceptions as to the nature of the experiment that she was to be taking part in. This was so we could observe her reactions as well as the reactions of the subjects themselves. We feel that this initial inter-reaction was important to observe as it could teach us a lot about how both they, and the rest of the human race, would deal with each other on the first meeting of their opposite species. So this initial meeting was rather a shock to her, compounded, I'm afraid, by the fact that she was being observed by over 100 scientists who sat in tiered rows around the enclosure and, of course, the banks of video cameras that recorded every detail. This was unfortunate, but unavoidable, and we made the decision that the scientific observation overcame any slight experimental bias that the presence of the observers may have interjected. In the event the subjects, who were by now used to being observed, ignored the scientists. So it was just the girl herself who seemed to be disturbed by our presence, so much so that she endeavoured to cover her crotch and breasts with her hands. This was judged to be predictable and so could safely be ignored in the scientific pretext. The next part of the experiment was very interesting. This was where the subjects became aware of the female and decided to investigate her. Obviously we were very keen to observe their reaction to the presence of a female and, indeed, whether they would recognise her as such. At first we were rather disappointed for, as you can see on the videotape, they merely shuffled around her occasionally reaching forward to touch her. She naturally tried to duck out of the way of their clutching paws and each time she moved sharply or shouted at them to desist, they scuttled away. Happily, after a while, they obviously perceived that she didn't present a threat and they became bolder. Now their touches became lingering manipulation of her flesh which started her crying, which they ignored. We took this to mean that they didn't present, or react to, visible signs of emotion in the way humans do. The gripping became bolder and more purposeful. They seemed particularly interested in her breasts which they all handled in a forceful manner. They did seem to grasp their significance, so much so that they all took turns to suck at her nipples. The look of disappointment on the face of Ug (the name we gave to the oldest of the group) when she failed to lactate, was so amusing that all the assembled scientists roared out laughing, adding to her discomfiture, I'm afraid. To our astonishment they all proceeded to use their very long tongues to lick her all over. We assumed this was to lick off her body salt but it did have the effect of starting to sexually arouse the young girl. The subjects were not slow in noticing this either and, before long, the leader was confining himself to licking and tasting her crotch area. This in turn aroused her even more and, after a very short period of time, they were all trying to delve into the junction between her legs. The female was alternatively moaning and trying to pull away, but they had almost superhuman strength and so they pinned her helplessly in place. As her arousal grew so too, to our delight, did theirs and they were soon sporting very prominent erections. At the case conference after the event someone (one of the female scientists if I recall) observed that in penis size the human race seems to have regressed, rather than progressed, if they were anything to go by. We used laser measurement devices to quantify their erections and we found that the smallest was nearly ten inches long and 2 inches across at its widest point. Ug, being the leader, had the largest appendage. After a period of about fifteen minutes of licking and fondling, Ug obviously decided that he wanted to mate with the female. Now, as you can imagine, we were all very curious as to how the mating would take place. If he were to follow the normal pattern of primate mating he would want to enter her from behind, but from his present position he would have to turn her, which he didn't seem inclined to do. Instead he seemed content with manoeuvring her legs apart with his, while she screamed and tried to get away. Again we noted that the screams didn't seemed to bother them, which was an interesting scientific anomaly we will be studying in more depth later. Once she was opened to his satisfaction he lined his penis up with the entrance to her vagina and then, with no preliminaries, he entered her. It took all his massive strength to force his way into her and at one point it looked like he was going to give up, such was her tightness around him. He probably deduced that he had entered the wrong hole. However, as we believed, his mating seemed to be purely instinctual and so he persevered to the point where he had entered her completely. At that point he fell forward which naturally pinned her to the ground. The other two subjects released their hold on her and she used her new-found freedom to try and push him off. He obviously felt in command of the situation and largely ignored her except to lick the salt tears from her cheeks. Then he was off. In terms of human coupling, the subject's coupling was a long, drawn out affair. In fact we measured the time from initial penetration through to the successful climax as being 43 minutes and 22 seconds. The coupling itself presented no especial technique but was a monotonous, although very rapid, series of strokes. He seemed to favour drawing the penis virtually completely out of her, before plunging back to its fullest extent. We concluded that this was their method of opening up the female's seedbed to ensure successful procreation. To our amazement the female actually had two orgasms during the mating. The first was at the 27 minute, 3 second mark and its peak lasted one minute, the other was as the subject ejaculated into her and this lasted closer to two minutes. Once the mating was concluded the subject simply ambled away. The assembled scientists stood and applauded me at that point, I must blushingly confess. Meanwhile, the next subject had dropped onto her and was assiduously repeating the process. All in all, on that first day she was mated virtually non-stop for 7 hours, at the end of which she was practically comatose. We concluded that this extended sexual activity was part of their genetic makeup, such that the female would be too exhausted to get up, thereby minimising the risk of their semen escaping from her womb, by dint of the force of gravity. >From that point on they mated with her at least twice a day each, >always at a time decided upon by Ug. After a month and a half they suddenly stopped at which point we performed a pregnancy test on her and were delighted to find that she was indeed pregnant. How the subjects knew this we have yet to determine. The interesting thing at this point is that the subjects have lost all interest in her yet she is always trying to mate with them. Indeed as her pregnancy advances, her state of arousal also seems to increase and she is continually trying to manipulate their penises to try and make them couple with her. But they have lost interest to the extent that they have taken to climbing up the support bars to get out of her way. She has, meanwhile, taken to manually quenching her arousal but with little success, evidenced by her increasing frustration and annoyance. There are a number of other observations that we have made during this experiment: 1) She has taken to talking to them in a series of grunts, reminiscent of their own 'speech', to which they seem to respond. 2) She takes an active part in their grooming process although she always tries to work her way down to their genitalia. 3) She completely ignores the scientists even when they speak directly to her. In fact she hides behind Ug if a scientist enters the enclosure. 4) The ultra-sound scans indicate a normal pregnancy, now in its third trimester. I have taken the liberty of including a selection of our observation and case notes for your perusal as you expressed your interest. I would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that we are now ready to proceed with the next phase of our experiment. This, as you recall, is where we introduce a more mature and sexually-experienced female, preferably with a high level of intelligence and beauty, into one of the enclosures so we can observe the one-to-one relation that would develop. We are looking for these attributes to see what effect, if any, there would be on the offspring of such a mating. I note that you have proposed a suitable candidate, a young lawyer of your acquaintance who, I believe, led the prosecution of your company under the environmental protection laws. I further note that you wish it to be known that you were in error with regard to the pollution incident and bear no malice against her, but merely believe that with her love of nature that she would be an ideal candidate for our new experiment. Naturally I concur with your recommendations, but unfortunately I must point out that without suitable funding we are not in a position to proceed with the next level of experimentation.
