"A Fear in the Corner" The light flashed and a few seconds later you could hear the thunder in the distance. It rattled the windows causing the dark solemn figure in the corner of the bedroom to twitch. Her hair was matted and over her shoulders. The tears had long since dried, almost as soon as he had left the room. Her body, a tight little ball in the corner with her legs drawn up against her breasts. The expression was one of pure terror, of violation, of fear. Her lips were quivering. It was all in her eyes, wide and dialated. It wasn't simply the storm's forceful drive and battering that had spun this little girl's life completely out of control. She's just merely a completely innocent twelve year old girl. The room, warm, but she still shivered. Her stomach ached as the rest of her body. Each time she saw the light under the door flicker wth his movement, she tightened even more almost becoming part of the corner itself. She was hurt emotionally and physically. The sweat was trickling off her body and landing on the floor beside her. Her breathing was rapid. It was so quiet she was actually afraid that he might hear her short and ill taken breaths... then return to her. Leaning her head against the wall, in her tight little ball, she drifted to a deep sleep. An emotionally exhausted little girl...slipping away. Tomorrow's promises would be different.
